Description

Celebrate International Day for the Abolition of Slavery with our "Liberation Loaf" – a symbol of freedom and unity. This decadent viennoiserie, enriched with rich flavors and history, pays homage to the resilience of those who fought against oppression.

Ingredients
    For the Dough:
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • For the Filling:
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Dough

1- In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

2- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms.

3- Allow the dough to rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  2. Step 2: Roll and Fill

    1- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

2- Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread melted butter over the surface, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.

3- Roll the dough tightly and slice it in half lengthwise. Twist the two pieces together to form a braided loaf.

  3. Step 3: Bake and Glaze

1- Place the braided loaf on a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

2- While baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.

3- Once baked, drizzle the glaze over the warm "Liberation Loaf."

  4. Step 4: Serve and Share the Empowerment

1- Slice and serve the "Liberation Loaf" while sharing stories of resilience and empowerment.

2- Raise a toast to a world where freedom reigns and equality prevails.
